Dr. Gerardo Ortiz

Medical Director/Founder

Dr. Gerardo Ortiz is a dedicated physician with a strong background in emergency medicine and healthcare leadership. He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and went on to complete medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed his residency training at Denver Health Medical Center, where he developed extensive experience in high-acuity patient care.

Dr. Ortiz later served as President of a large physician group in Pueblo, Colorado, supporting a Level II Trauma Center and leading efforts to deliver high-quality emergency medical services. Since 2017, he has been the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Lone Star 24-hour Emergency Room, where he continues to focus on clinical excellence and operational leadership.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ortiz is a devoted husband and father of three. He enjoys hunting, golfing, and traveling with his family.

Our ER in New Braunfels, TX specializes in emergency care for minor and severe accidents, injuries and conditions. Our services include, but are not limited to flu testing, and IV hydration. We are open 24/7 364 with very fast wait times. Patient care is always our #1 priority. Our billing is always available to answer yoru questions about insurance and billing. This place was so clean, fast, professional, but fun to talk to. They have the friendliest staff from the front desk, to intake, nurses, and Dr! It's NOT a regular ER where it feels cold and unwelcoming. This ER was so welcoming and had complimentary snacks and drinks. You never want to be at an ER but if you have to, go to this one.
